Reverend David Mercer

Rev. David Mercer joined St. Paul UCC in September 2010 after having served churches in Wisconsin, New Jersey, and Ohio.  He was born in Clinton, Iowa and grew up in northwest Illinois. He holds degrees from Judson College (Elgin, Il) and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

Rev. Mercer is also married to a minister, as his wife, Edit, is ordained in the Reformed Church of Hungary and holds standing in the United Church of Christ. Together, they have an elementary school-aged son.

When he isn’t thinking about church and family, Rev. Mercer enjoys most anything to do with baseball. He is an avid fan of the New York Yankees, often referring to his past visits to Yankee Stadium as “pilgrimages to the cathedral.”

Julianne Glesne–Director Of Music

Julie began playing the organ for church when she was just 13 years old in her home town of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. While in high school, her mother drove her into Minneapolis every week for organ lessons. Julie’s love of playing the organ and all music continued as she went to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. There, she sang in the Nordic Choir, played for chapel and continued studying organ and voice. She started teaching music in Palatine right after graduation.  She has since retired from teaching in District 15 and District 54 after 32 years. In September of 2001, she became the organist at St. Paul UCC. She has been the Director of Music at St. Paul since 2010.  She considers it a blessing to be even more involved in the music program St. Paul.

She currently resides in Elk Grove Village with her husband, Bruce. She has 3 adult children. Matthew and his wife Pam, and her grandson Tomas, live in Los Angeles. Our daughter Katie lives in San Francisco and son Nathan in Chicago.

For the last several years, she has been privileged to sing with the Chicago Master Singers. The choir gives at least 3 concerts a year and performs every other year in Europe. She has been fortunate to be able to travel with them. Besides her family of course, “Music is her Life!”

Jenne Lennon–Choir Director–

Jenne has her B.A. in Music Performance from the University of Illinois-Chicago.  She has been a voice, choir and piano instructor at the Wilson Academy of Music and Art in Westmont, The Bloomingdale School of Music in Bloomingdale, St. Irene’s Catholic School in Warrenville and the Academy of Irish Music in Chicago.  She also has spent time as a teaching assistant for the UIC Choirs and the University Singers at Northwestern University.

Jenne grew up in Chicago.  She has two siblings, one of them being a twin sister.  Her grandfather was a Chicago police officer and she carries on his work for justice through her work with Native Americans.  She is involved with the preservation of Native American Rights in South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.  Jenne is the founder of Glencoe Records, whose goal is to promote the recorded works of Celtic and World music Artist from around the globe.  A percentage of all Glencoe’s proceeds benefit a number of charities.

She is one part of a duo of the international group Shishonnah, whose beautiful album was released this fall.

Mary Doktor–Director of Children’s Education

Mary began her work as Christian Education Coordinator at St Paul in 1987.  She is a lifelong member of St Paul and grew up in Palatine. After getting a certificate in Early Childhood Education she taught pre-school  for the Palatine Park District for 3 years.  Since 1999, she has worked as a program assistant for School District 15.  She currently resides in Rolling Meadows with her husband Ed and 4 of her 6 children, who range in age from 19-31.  In her free time, she enjoys crafts, spending time with friends and family and vacationing in Northern Wisconsin.  She feels privileged to share her love of working with children and youth with the families of St Paul.

Mary Faust–Church Adminstrator

Mary Faust has been the Office Administrator at St. Paul for the last five years.  Prior coming to St. Paul Mary was an Insurance Claims Litigation Secretary for 25 years.  Mary has served on the Community Outreach Board and she and her family have been members of St. Paul Church since 2000.   She is married to Mark, her high school sweetheart of 29 years, and they have two children.  They all enjoy outdoor activities, fishing, kayaking and they spend their family vacations in the northwoods of Ely Minnesota.  Mary also enjoys country line dancing.
