The Garden Committee, a.k.a. Garden Girls, is primarily responsible for the front and east side church gardens along with urns, for the purpose of enhancing the outside presence of our church building. An ad hoc garden crew of men have also helped in the past with various tasks such as erosion control, spreading compost, and helping with other maintenance.
After decorating the urns for Christmas and winter interest, the committee is mostly inactive for the winter months other than some planning. Our gardeners usually start a new garden season in April with cleanup and addition of compost. In May, annuals are purchased and planted, and from there on, a watering and maintenance schedule is followed throughout the rest of the season, usually ending in late October.
